From the producer who brought you Sanford and Son, Good Times, All in the Family, and Maude, comes another comedy—One Day at a Time. The original show was produced by Norman Lear in 1975, starring Bonnie Franklin and Mackenzie Phillips. However, Netflix has rebooted the show with an all new, diverse cast.
This time around, viewers will follow the Alvarez family. Penelope (Justina Machado) is the down-to-earth, tough-loving mother who is trying to readjust to life at home after fighting in the war. Isabella Gomez and Marcel Ruiz play Elena and Alex, Penelope’s children in this family comedy.
To top it all off, Rita Moreno plays Lydia, the fun-loving grandmother who always knows the right thing to say. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll relate to the story in more ways than you’d expect. This Latino-studded comedy is exactly what the Latino community needs.
One Day at a Time comes to Netflix January 6th!
