Hugo Balta is an experienced Broadcasting and Digital News Media Professional directing growth, change and innovation in several markets, divisions and business cycles.
Hugo is currently the Senior Director of Multicultural Initiatives at the Disney ABC Television Group. His work focuses on continuously evaluating company policies, systems, and processes to ensure they fully incorporate Diversity and Inclusion management competencies in all areas of business. Among Hugo’s accomplishments is implementing entrepreneurial strategies in eliminating silos in the news gathering division by creating an infrastructure facilitating the collaboration of planning and production of stories and coverage of major events.
Hugo is also a Management and Multicultural Consultant. An experienced strategist with business acumen, he trains and coaches executives on people leadership skills and how to create a viable mission and vision for a business as a whole.
Hugo’s nearly 25 year, award winning career includes leadership positions at CBS, Telemundo and NBC networks before joining ESPN in 2011.
He is a member of and sits on several national and local boards of organizations focusing on the fair and accurate treatment of minority communities. They include the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), an organization he currently serves as president for a second term.
Hugo is a best-selling author and sought after writer, speaker and consultant leading discussions and training on the opportunities of inclusion and diversity in the workplace and marketplace.
Mr. Balta is a resident of Central Connecticut where he lives with his wife and two children.
