Darla, a first-generation college graduate, grew up in Cambridge and went on to earn a bachelors degree in business from Emmanuel College and a masters degree from Simmons School of Management.
Darla has spent her career immersed in the talent acquisition and retention realm recently serving as the Director of National Diversity Recruitment and Strategic Partnerships at City Year. Prior to her role with City Year, Darla served as the (interim) Director of Admissions for Simmons University in Boston. Throughout her career, Darla has served in a variety of talent acquisition roles for notable organizations including Akamai Technologies, PRTM Management Consulting, and Tufts University.
In 2017, Darla was appointed by Governor Charlie Baker as Commissioner on both the Black Advisory and the Plymouth 400 Commissions. She serves as an Executive Board Member and immediate Past President of the National Black MBA-Boston Chapter. She joined the GLAD Board of Directors in 2018 as Clerk and Co-Chairs The BASE Women’s Leadership Council.
In 2018, Darla joined the Talent Acquisition team at Reebok and has been instrumental in launching the company’s POC ERG and developing new diversity recruitment partnerships. She is also the Founder and Diversity Consultant at DeGrace Group which partners with national non-profit clients and government agencies to build sustainable diversity recruitment and retention solutions.
In her spare time, you can find Darla enjoying motherhood and applying eyelash extensions as the Founder and CEO (Chief Eyelash Officer) at the Brow and Lash Boutique on Newbury Street.
