YWCA Cambridge is pleased to announce that Kelly Bates, Esq. will M.C. its 24th Annual Tribute to Outstanding Women, to be held on October 13, 2016, 5:30 – 9 PM, at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge.
Kelly serves as Chief of Staff & Democracy Strategy for Interaction Institute for Social Change. She is a regular commentator for WGBH television and its radio station 89.7FM, as well as other local, state, and New England media outlets. Career highlights include: Executive Director of the Elma Lewis Center for Civic Engagement, Learning, and Research at Emerson College; Executive Director of Access Strategies Fund, a charitable foundation empowering women and underserved communities to vote. Kelly was a legislative advocate for the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute and Executive Director of the Women’s State-Wide Legislative Network; served as adjunct faculty at Northeastern Law School and Tufts University in the areas of civil rights law and social welfare policy.
2016 Tribute Honorees are: Michele Scott, Case Manager, Cambridge Works; Intisar Rabb, Esq., Director, Islamic Legal Studies Program, Harvard Law; Jody Adams, Chef/Partner of Trade, Porto and Saloniki; and Toni Phillips, Community Activist; Retired Education Associate, Interaction Institute for Social Change; Susan Dupois, Ed.D. Sofia Bernstein, Vassal Lane Upper School student and equality advocate will receive the Outstanding Young Woman Award; and Ruth Ryan Allen, Founder of Paddy’s Lunch, 5K Cambridge Classic Road Race to benefit Title IX Girls Running Club and Cambridge Girls Softball will receive the Ruth Barron Award, named for a volunteer who demonstrated outstanding commitment to the YWCA Cambridge.
