Willard S. Holt, III is an of counsel attorney for Plunkett Cooney, a law firm with offices in Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio. Mr. Holt’s base of operations is in the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office, where he focuses his practice primarily in the areas of business law and estate planning.
Mr. Holt’s corporate clients include closely held companies and non-profit organizations and quasi-public corporations, including government agencies. With regards to his respective non-profit clients, Holt has secured a $8,900,000 low-income housing tax credit deal, overseen a $1,100,000 commercial real estate transaction, and obtained a $12,000,000 contract from the State of Michigan.
As a member of Plunkett Cooney’s Business Advisory Group, Mr. Holt’s areas of expertise include mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity structure, joint ventures, shareholder agreements, succession planning, corporate contracts, and strategic alliances. In addition, he is well versed in legal matters relating to the formation, structure, and operation of Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (WBE). Mr. Holt also works with cannabis industry entrepreneurs on entity formation, business planning, licensing and applications.
Mr. Holt received his bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and his J.D. from Georgetown University. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, District of Columbia Bar Association, Wolverine Bar Association, and the Straker Bar Association. Mr. Holt is also a lifetime member of the NAACP, a Corporate Member Liaison for the National Business League, a Leadership Detroit Graduate, legal counsel and a part of the board of directors for the Midnight Golf Program, and the corporate member liaison for the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council.
