In recognition of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, both observed on Sept. 17, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will present 18 citizenship candidates to the Honorable William K. Sessions III, U.S. District Court Judge District of Vermont during a special naturalization ceremony onboard Shelburne Museum’s Steamboat Ticonderoga. Judge Sessions will preside over the ceremony and administer the Oath of Allegiance to America’s newest citizens.

Shelburne Museum’s Director of Finance, Berenice Sarafzade, will deliver keynote remarks to the new citizens and guests.

The 18 citizenship candidates originate from the following 15 countries: Bhutan, Burma, Canada, Congo, Germany, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Moldova, Peru, Russia, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.

This ceremony is part of USCIS’ annual celebration of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, and Constitution Week, being recognized this year from Sept. 17 – 23.  USCIS will welcome more than 30,000 new citizens at more than 200 naturalization ceremonies during this week-long observance.
