TalkingPoint: Conversations with Podcasters

On Wednesday, May 10th, the new TalkingPoint: Conversations with Podcasters in West Cambridge will kick off an exciting new event series called “TalkingPoint: Conversations with Podcasters at Freepoint Hotel.” These innovative and engaging series take podcasts out of the sonic space by bringing listeners and locals together to meet some of today’s most popular local and not-so-local podcast creators and hosts. Each TalkingPoint event will feature a podcast host/creator along with a guest moderator who will lead a conversation into their podcast journey – how it started, has grown, where it’s going and what the future may hold. The audience will be encouraged to engage and ask questions throughout the evening as well as mix and mingle with other like-minded listeners, hotel guests, and the featured podcaster and moderator.

The inaugural event will feature Eric Cacciatore, host and creator of Restaurant Unstoppable, the #1 restaurant industry podcast on iTunes. Cacciatore, a New Hampshire native, will be joined by Jenny Johnson, co-host of NESN’s Dining Playbook, to discuss the success and lessons learned since launching his podcast that dives into the ins and outs of the restaurant industry and has featured some of the biggest restauranteurs and industry leaders from across the country.

As a bonus, Cacciatore will also record a LIVE episode of Restaurant Unstoppable with Freepoint Kitchen & Cocktails Executive Chef, Matthew Gaudet. Cacciatore will chat with Gaudet, the former Food & Wine “Best New Chef” recipient, about life since his decision to close the award-winning, WestBridge, his new north shore restaurant, Superfine, Freepoint Kitchen & Cocktails and everything in between. Both portions of the evening will take place in the hotel’s lobby where guests can order cocktails and bites while listening to the live recording and TalkingPoint conversation.

Podcasts are part of the fabric of the Freepoint brand as the hotel has a first of its kind partnership with RadioPublic, a new, local mobile app and listening platform for on-demand radio and podcasts which provides curated playlists and listening recommendations to every guest, available at the touch of a button. The dedicated Freepoint Hotel channel on the RadioPublic app features handpicked collections of episodes selected with the Freepoint guest experience in mind. Venturing out to tour the city? Try the “Boston like a Local” playlist, featuring episodes touching on the latest in regional sports, culture, and history. Getting ready for dinner? Freepoint Executive Chef Matthew Gaudet has curated a playlist of food and drink-centric episodes, including selections from the podcasts of epicurean magazines alongside locally-produced episodes of the Boston Museum of Science’s “GastroPod” and “Milk Street Radio,” hosted by Chris Kimball, formerly of America’s Test Kitchen.

TalkingPoint: Conversations with Podcasters at Freepoint Hotel will begin at 6:30 pm with the live recording of Restaurant Unstoppable. The conversation portion with creator/host Eric Cacciatore and moderator, Jenny Johnson will take place at 7:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public. RSVPs are strongly recommended for those wishing to guarantee a seat or enjoy dinner.
