April English has been with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office since 2003.  She began her career in the Attorney General’s office working as an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division.  As a civil litigator, Attorney English handled a wide range of cases including matters of telemarketing fraud, telecommunications, lead in children’s toys, debt settlement and credit counseling, false advertising, and mortgage fraud.  

In 2011, Attorney English transitioned into the Insurance and Unemployment Fraud Division in the Criminal Bureau where she served as Deputy Division Chief and Director.  As an attorney in the Criminal Bureau, she investigated and prosecuted those who commit fraud against insurers and against the Commonwealth’s unemployment insurance and worker’s compensation system.  Attorney English also served as co-chair of the Massachusetts AGO Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the past 9 years.

In the Fall of 2016, the Attorney General appointed her Chief of Organization Development & Diversity.  In her new role, Attorney English oversees the workplace composition and culture across the Office, and helps manage recruitment, professional development, mentoring, diversity, inclusion, and retention efforts.

Prior to working at the Attorney General’s Office, Attorney English worked as a Law Clerk to the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court.  She received her undergraduate degree from Spelman College in 1997 and her law degree from Northeastern University School of Law in 2000. She has also served on the faculty for the National Association of Attorneys General Training Institute since 2009.
