Senior Vice President, Revenue Cycle Operations — Hackensack Meridian Health, Northern Region

Anne is the Senior Vice President of Revenue Cycle Operations at Hackensack Meridian Health, Northern Region. In this role, Anne has Epic Executive operational responsibilities for HackensackUMC and Palisades. Anne is also responsible for all Access functions (Admission Services, Emergency Trauma Services, Centralized Scheduling, Outpatient Registrations), Health Information, Patient Accounting, HUMC’s Clinical Documentation Improvement and Revenue Cycle/Epic Training.

Anne has significant experience in health care administration. Much of her career was spent in the Health Insurance Industry. In her last role in this sector, she was the Director of New York Markets for Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New York. In this position, she managed claims processing and customer service functions for large corporate groups. During the past twenty years, Anne has worked in large Academic Medical Centers managing Revenue Cycle functions and worked collaboratively with various IT executives to implement new financial systems. For eight years, she was the Senior Director of Patient Financial Services at one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, which subsequently became New York Presbyterian Hospital located in New York, NY.

During Anne’s tenure in the hospital industry, she has developed and implemented initiatives which resulted in significant financial improvements for both institutions. These initiatives include work flow and process improvement changes, formal revenue cycle training programs and new and improved technologies. In recent years, several significant initiatives that were implemented under Anne’s leadership that have resulted in positive impacts to HackensackUMC Financials are the Clinical Documentation Improvement Program and the successful implementation of Epic Financials. The northern hospitals’ Case Mix Indices (Medicare, Total) has improved year after year as a result of enhanced clinical documentation. Post Epic Financials Implementation, each hospital has experienced its highest Cash Collections in the history of each facility. Bond Ratings have also improved. Additional accomplishments in recent years include implementing, successfully, strategies which resulted in a significant reduction in the Length of stay (LOS). Anne also contributed to a significant improvement in Press Ganey Service Excellence scores for outpatient areas. These results have been sustained.

Anne is a member of New Jersey HFMA Chapter’s Patient Accounting Subcommittee and an active participant in Epic’s Forums and User Group. She served on HFMA’s National Board of Examiners (BOE) for three years and served as the Chair of the BOE (Board of Examiners) for one year. She is a past member of the Greater New York Hospital Association. Anne has also served as Chair and Co-chair of NJHFMA’s Patient Accounting Subcommittee. She has served as an adjunct professor at New York University.

Anne is the Chair of several multidisciplinary committees within HackensackUMC including: Revenue Cycle, Denial Management, and Clinical Documentation Improvement. She is chair of the Legal Medical Records Committee for Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) and Chair of Epic Implementation Revenue Cycle Governance Committee for HMH. In addition, she is a member of numerous committees within the organization including Patient Experience, Performance Improvement Clinical Outcomes, Corporate Compliance, Quality Improvements, etc.

Anne earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Management and Labor Relations from New York University and a Masters of Public Administration (M.P.A.) with a concentration in Health Administration also from New York University. She is also a Healthcare Financial Management Association Fellow (FHFMA).
