Senior Operating Officer of Life Sciences and President of Lab Products – Thermo Fisher Scientific
Fred Lowery is the Senior Operating Officer of Life Sciences and President of the Laboratory Products Group for Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a company officer, Mr. Lowery leads the Laboratory Products Group and the go-to market for the Life Science Group which has more than 18,000 employees worldwide. The business provides an extensive portfolio of reagents, instruments, equipment, consumables, and chemicals used in biological and medical research, discovery and production of new drugs, and vaccines as well as the diagnosis of disease. These products and services are used by customers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, agricultural, clinical, academic, and government markets.
Mr. Lowery is an accomplished and dynamic corporate leader with a proven track record leading teams to drive profitable growth. He has developed operating teams, launched innovative new products, acquired businesses, and successfully led businesses for over twenty years, while working for several Fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Lowery joined Fisher Scientific International in 2005, prior to its merger with Thermo Electron Corporation. At Fisher Scientific, Mr. Lowery led the Operations at the Molecular BioProducts business and the transformation of the Fisher Scientific Products New Product Development process. He later led the Chromatography Consumables business and the Life Science Research business as the VP/GM. He was promoted to President of Laboratory Products in 2011 and Senior Vice President and President of Laboratory Products in 2014.
Prior to joining Fisher Scientific in 2005, Mr. Lowery held various roles at Maytag Corporation in marketing, business development, and global procurement. Prior to joining Maytag, Mr. Lowery held various positions in product engineering and operations at General Motors and Delphi Automotive Systems.
Mr. Lowery is a father of four and a native of Knoxville, TN. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University. He also holds a Masters of Science degree in Manufacturing Management from Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute of Engineering and Management).
Mr. Lowery is actively involved in serving the community as a mentor at the Boston Renaissance Charter Public School, and a member of the Tennessee Tech University Engineering Board of Advisors.
