Five-time Grammy-winning bassist and composer Victor Wooten, visiting scholar in performance studies at Berklee, and his longtime collaborator, Steve Bailey, chair of Berklee’s Bass Department, join forces with drum greats Omar Hakim and Derico Watson to bring you an exciting blend of jazz, funk, rock, and world beat music. Wooten, generally considered one of the world’s top bassists, is a member of the genre-bending Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, and Bailey has toured extensively with Wooten, having previously played with artists from Jethro Tull to Paquito d’Rivera ’03H.
These two leading figures in the field of bass education will perform with Hakim, a drummer, composer, producer, and technologist who has worked with Michael Jackson, Miles Davis, Madonna, Weather Report, David Bowie, and Daft Punk, to name a few. Watson is also a frequent Wooten collaborator who has performed with artists such as George Duke and guitar virtuoso Prasanna B.M. ’99.
The Wooten/Bailey Bass Bash takes place Saturday, June 17, at the Berklee Performance Center. Showtime is 7:30 PM. p.m. Admission: $8 in advance / $12 day of show
