Pocumtuck Homelands Festival

The Third Annual Pocumtuck Homelands Festival returns to the waterfront at Unity Park, 1st Street, in Turners Falls on Saturday, August 6, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

 

This year’s festival will feature Native American artists, musicians, vendors, and educators.  The day-long schedule of music will include performances by Mohawk (Wolf Clan) singer-songwriter Theresa “Bear” Fox and Kontiwennenhawi: the Akwasasne Women Singers; “Wave Artist” Mixashawn; Native American flute player George Leduc; Medicine Mammals Singers; and Black Hawk Singers.

 

The day’s events will also include, a Penobscot hoop dancer, round dancing, spiritual teachings by Native American elders hosted by co-sponsors Visioning BEAR Circle Intertribal Coalition, primitive skills demonstrations, children’s activities, Native American history of the Great Falls area presentations, children’s crafts ($2 fee), storytelling, and a powwow emcee.

 

The event is Free. Appropriate for all ages. All are welcome.
