To coincide with the 2016 Olympic games hosted in Rio de Janeiro, area venues are serving up Brazilian food and beverage specials.

From August 5-21, chef Brian Poe will be going for the gold when he dishes out a Brazilian-inspired culinary and cocktail special in honor of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio:
- Feijoada Burger – a ground bacon and pork patty topped with a traditional Brazilian stew of black beans, pork, andouille sausage and braised Russian kale ($14; pictured below)
- Mango Caipirinha – Rio-based Avuá Prata cachaça with lavender simple syrup ($14)

Cask ‘n Flagon in Fenway will be screening the Olympics daily on some of their 60+ HDTVs. With Brazil being the world’s largest producer of guavas, the bar team also will shake up a specialty cocktail:
- Guava Cooler – Cruzan rum, vanilla liqueur, guava nectar, fresh lime juice and simple syrup ($11)

The Independent in Somerville’s Union Square is getting into the Olympic spirit by taking a vacation – sans passport – with their aptly themed summer cocktail featuring the main spirit of Brazil:
