Senior Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Programs Specialist – Boston Red Sox
Michael Lara was born and raised in Los Angeles, California before attending the University of California, Santa Cruz where he studied Business Management Economics. Michael moved to Boston during the summer of 2014 to pursue his graduate degree in Higher Education Administration at Boston College.
Michael joined the team at the Boston Red Sox as the Senior DEI&B Programs Specialist in August of 2021. Michael is the first to hold this newly created position with the Boston Red Sox and is tasked with overseeing the organization’s Employee Resource Groups, revising hate speech policy, expanding education and training for the front office, field staff, and players, and enhancing DEI&B efforts across the Club and Fenway Sports Management.
Prior to his time at the Red Sox, Michael served as the Assistant Director for LGBTQ+ & Identity Programs in the Office of Multicultural Programs at Babson College in Wellesley, MA. After seven years working in student affairs and higher education at places like Babson College, Berklee College of Music, and Boston College, Michael made the transition out of higher education and into the corporate world.
