Blue-haired celebrity chef and restaurateur, Jason Santos is excited to unveil his new concept, Citrus & Salt. Located at 142 Berkeley St., Santos’ newest venture will deliver MexiCali flavors and beachy, coastal vibes to guests in the heart of the Back Bay.
Santos, who currently owns and operates Boston’s Abby Lane and Buttermilk & Bourbon, aims to channel the success of Buttermilk & Bourbon’s focused concept and translate it into sister restaurant, Citrus & Salt, based off of a similar format and execution. Instead of drawing influence from Santos’ love of the bayou, Citrus & Salt will draw influence from Santos’ love of the Baja coast of California and Mexico.
The menu will offer a variety of shareable small plates showcasing playful, reimagined coastal MexiCali cuisine as well as plenty of raw bar options. Menu highlights will include: Mole Poblano Braised Lamb Flautas with tomatillo salsa, shredded cabbage, queso fresco; Pork Belly Chicharrone Tacos with Yucatan mayo, shredded lettuce, pickled onions; Crab & Cactus Chowder with tapioca, tequila, tortilla strips; and Sea Scallop Ceviche with fresh mango, aji Amarillo, turmeric, banana “dippin’ dots.” For dessert, the menu will feature Made-to-Order Churros with vanilla dulce and mezcal chocolate dipping sauces; Soft Serve Sorbet-of-the-Day in a salted pretzel cone; and Dole Whip with fresh pineapple puree.
In addition to an expansive offering of beer, wine, classic cocktails, Citrus & Salt will also offer a variety of margaritas featuring fresh fruit purées; a nitro cold brew on-tap with chocolate tequila, Mexican cinnamon and house whip; a house michelada; a shareable margarita; red and white sangrias; and signature drinks served with paletas or Mexican popsicles.
