Vice President, Fenway Park Tours — Boston Red Sox

Marcita Thompson is Vice President of Fenway Park Tours at the Boston Red Sox. In her role, she is responsible for the daily operation, securing new business, formulating local and international marketing strategies, renewing client partnerships, the Educational Tours Program and JetBlue South tours in Florida. Since joining the Red Sox in 1998, Marcita has held several titles while working for the club such as in the areas of special events, pre-game ceremonies, sales and marketing, Fenway Enterprises, and ballpark operations. With over 25 years of sports, event management, and business development experience, Marcita is recognized for her innovation with Fenway Park Tours and bringing unique events to Fenway Park. In 1999, Thompson played an integral role in developing the vision for the 1999 MLB All-Star Game Pre-game ceremony and all VIP hospitality. In 2004 and 2007 Marcita was tasked with producing each World Series Gala on behalf of the Boston Red Sox and Major League Baseball. In 2009, she created the first-ever Fenway Park Bridal Festival. Under Marcita’s direction, Fenway Park Tours has established itself as Major League Baseball’s most successful and profitable tour program. In addition to her daily responsibilities with Red Sox, Marcita serves on the club’s “Take The Lead” program, the first-of-its-kind partnership between Boston’s five major professional sports teams designed to combat racism and hate speech in sports venues and the Boston community. Marcita also serves on the Board of Directors for Boston Center for Youth and Families services, Board Member on the UMASS Boston Sports Leadership Bachelor Degree Program, Advisory Board Member for Scholar Athletes, and parent volunteer.

Prior to joining the Boston Red Sox, Marcita worked in collegiate athletics as a student-athlete advisor, community relations manager, operations manager, accounting coordinator and special events manager.

Born in Buffalo, NY, Marcita grew up in Mesa, AZ. She is a graduate of the University of Arizona. Where she was student-athlete and intern in the Athletics’ Department. While attending the U of A Marcita was very involved in the Center for Athletes Total Success program (C.A.T.S.), Wildcats Alumni, fundraising and private events. Marcita resides in Dorchester with her husband, Roy, their son, Roy Alden, II, and daughter, Maliah.
