On January 30th, 2017, Moona, the intimate Eastern Mediterranean-inspired restaurant that just recently opened in Inman Square, is sending owner/restauranteur Mohamad El Zein and Executive Chef Mark McMann to the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) for an evening of “Home Cooking of the Arab World with Moona’s Mark McMann & Mohamad El Zein,” the latest installment in the BCAE’s Celebrity Chef Series. From 6 to 9 PM, attendees will follow the guidance of El Zein and Chef McMann as they explore the diversities and intricacies of traditional dishes, spices and flavors of the Middle East. Students will learn to create rich and authentic Arab dishes sure to wow any dinner guest, all while sipping on traditional and tasty drinks.
Embracing its Arabic name, which translates to ‘pantry,’ Moona is located in Cambridge and specializes in hot and cold mezzas (small plates) by integrating locally sourced and seasonal ingredients with house-made aromatic spice blends, jams and pickles, which are also available for purchase. Growing up in Abu Dhabi, El Zein, formerly of Masa Restaurant Group, was always inspired by the food of his childhood. Combined with Chef McMann’s passion for picking and preserving seasonal bounty, students will surely be tasting the cultural flavors of the Middle East.
Don’t miss this hands-on opportunity to explore the exotic and complex Middle Eastern preparation with two of Boston’s most seasoned culinary talents. To reserve a spot or for more information, please visit www.bcae.org or call (617) 267-4430, as space is limited.
