On Saturday, October 1st, 2016 the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) invites women to explore and discover what connects them to other women by joining the I AM A WOMAN WHO movement. Founded by Jill Valle, the movement provides women an opportunity to not only be viewed, but to speak back using portrait photography and confessional writing. It addresses issues commonly faced, and shared, by the female sex, and how those issues define who we have been, who we are now, and who we can become.

During this hour-long, one-on-one session with Valle, each student will be encouraged to evoke their deepest vulnerabilities and channel the most raw and honest moments captured through stream-of-consciousness writing prompts and imagery that serves as both catalyst and canvas. Valle will then paint the student’s words on a white canvas and photographs them in front of their powerful backdrop, creating a raw and poignant portrait.

Valle, a Boston native, studied photography and psychology on both the East and West coasts, and has now owned her own practice for fifteen years.  Her inspiring movement, “I am a Woman Who,” is a compilation of her written work that has been a direct reflection of moments that she has witnessed or been a part of, incorporated into art.  Her work has been exhibited in galleries in Los Angeles, New York and right here in Boston.
