This Saturday May 6th, there will be a Benefit dinner featuring some local Roxbury restaurants, along with live music, spoken word, silent auction to benefit the revitalization of First Church in Roxbury, 1804 Meetinghouse.
You may have seen the new paint, the lighted steeple, heard the clock striking the hour. More work needs to be done. Neighbors are among the beneficiaries of the Meetinghouse as an iconic structure and as a venue for cultural events, music, debate, lectures and celebrations.
The event will honor State Rep Byron Rushing, President RHS and an ardent advocate for all of Roxbury history..which means all who have ever called Roxbury “home” going back centuries. In Putnam Chapel, there willbe a buffet dinner donated by some local restaurants, jazz by Fulani Haynes duo and Spoken Word by our neighbor Lisa Lee. Silent Auction! Delectable desserts by some local bakers you will recognize.
The benefit dinner takes this Saturday, 6:30 PM in the Meetinghouse, John Eliot Square/10 Putnam Street, for wine, light hors d’oeuvres, live music. Price is so reasonable….just $20 a plate. Space for 100. RSVP to [email protected] or phone Jon 617.216.1617
