On Wednesday, August 24th, 2016, the legendary local jazz saxophonist George Garzone will take the stage at Beat Brasserie, located in Cambridge’s Harvard Square, to honor the great John Coltrane’s date of birth. From 8:00PM-12:00AM jazz fans can enjoy this exclusive tribute performance while indulging in Beat’s signature dishes from and sipping on handcrafted cocktails.

Known for his innovative three-on-one chord approach and the sense of freedom ingrained in his expressive music, John Coltrane has had an impact on all jazz music to date, and that of Boston-based saxophonist George Garzone is no exception. Coltrane, a Grammy award-winning artist and recipient of The Recording Academy’s highest honors “the Lifetime Achievement Award,” truly believed that his music could influence positive thoughts and ignite a change in the world, and his legacy continues on in music today.

Garzone, an international touring saxophonist, is a member of the elite group of jazz musicians to come out of New England. He is a member of The Fringe, a jazz trio founded 40 years ago that includes legends John Lockwood and Bob Gullotti that performs regularly in the Boston area. He began on the tenor when he was six, played in a family band, and attended music school in Boston. In addition, Garzone has been a frequent guest performer, touring Europe with Jamaaladeen Tacuma and performing with musicians such as Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Jack DeJohnette, Rachel Z and John Patitucci among others.
