Registration for Puerto Rican Festival Pageant 3/12

The Puerto Rican Festival of Massachusetts announced today that registration for the pageant of the Puerto Rican Festival of MA will take place on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 12-5 pm at the Dedham Holiday Inn located at 55 Ariadne Road, Dedham MA 02026.

 

The pageant will take place on June 25, 2017. “The enrollment and participation process has been enormous this year and we have received more entries than we anticipated and we love it because it shows the pride of culture that these young women have. We still have a little time and we would love to see more pageant participants. We’ll see you all on June 25. “Said Edwin Alicea, president of the festival.

 

The Festival will take place on the weekend of July 28-30, at the Boston City Hall Plaza. This summer, the Puerto Rico Festival will mark 50 years of sharing with the Boston community aspects of Puerto Rico’s culture and traditions.

 

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

  • Established in 1967 by activists from the Puerto Rican community.
  • Mission: to promote and educate in aspects of the culture, values and heritage of Puerto Rico.

  • In 2016, more than 200,000 participated in the Festival of Puerto Rico according to statistics of the Boston Police.
  • Nearly one in three Hispanics in Massachusetts is of Puerto Rican descent, which makes them the largest Hispanic segment according to the 2010 Census.
